7. Terms & Conditions

1. Scope, eligibility & admission

  • These T&C apply to all AVM Direct English courses (in‑person and online). Enrolment is confirmed only when a signed enrolment form is accepted by AVM and a deposit of $10 or first payment is received.
  • Applicants must provide accurate personal information. Minimum age is 18 years unless otherwise approved in writing by a guardian. Admission is subject to entry requirements, available seats, and AVM’s selection process.

2. Fees, currency & payment terms

  • Fees are payable in United States Dollars (USD)  as per AVM’s invoice/schedule. AVM accepts cash, bank transfer, mobile money and card. A stated registration deposit of $10 may be required and is non‑refundable unless AVM cancels. By enrolling the payer authorizes AVM to charge agreed card or bank details for fees, late fees and collection costs. Refunds are only as provided by Timor‑Leste consumer protection law or if AVM cancels the program.

3. Late payment, interest & collection

  • Overdue amounts incur interest at up to 2.0% per month (or the maximum permitted by Timor‑Leste law) from the due date. AVM may suspend access to classes/materials for unpaid accounts. The student/payer is liable for reasonable collection costs, including agency and legal fees.

4. Cancellation & refunds (student)

  • Cancellation prior to start:  Less than 14 days full refund of prepaid fees less $10 non‑refundable deposit; 7–14 days — 50% refund of prepaid tuition;  less than 7 days — no refund.
  • Cancellation after start: no refund for completed lessons; unused lessons may be refunded pro rata less administrative and material costs.

5. Missed classes, rescheduling & make‑ups

  • Private lessons: Less than 24 hours’ notice required to cancel/reschedule or lesson is forfeited. Group lessons: less than 48 hours’ notice required for transfers/make‑ups. Make‑ups are provided at AVM’s discretion and subject to availability. Repeated unexplained non‑attendance (e.g., 3+ consecutive missed lessons) may result in suspension without refund.

6. Attendance, conduct & assessment

  • Students must attend at least 80% of sessions and comply with AVM’s Code of Conduct. Misconduct or disruptive behaviour may result in dismissal without refund. Programs are competency‑based; certificates are issued only after successful completion of required modules, assessments and attendance requirements. Appeals of assessment results must be lodged within 14 days of notification.

7. Materials, intellectual property & chargebacks

  • Course materials remain AVM property and are for personal educational use only. Unauthorised reproduction or distribution is prohibited. Chargebacks or payment reversals for legitimate fees are prohibited; the student/payer is liable for any resulting fees, losses or legal costs.

8. Data, privacy, health & safety

  • Personal data will be used for training administration, reporting and compliance with the Timor‑Leste Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MEJD) and handled confidentially under Timor‑Leste law. Students must disclose medical conditions or special needs before enrolment. Students must follow all AVM safety instructions; AVM is not liable for injuries or damages outside its direct responsibility or negligence.

9. AVM cancellations, schedule changes & refunds (provider)

  • AVM may reschedule, consolidate or cancel classes for operational reasons. When AVM cancels a class it will offer a make‑up session or a pro rata refund if a make‑up is not feasible. AVM will provide reasonable advance notice when possible.

10. Suspension, termination, governing law, disputes & contact

  • AVM may suspend or terminate enrolment immediately for non‑payment, chargebacks, repeated non‑attendance, misconduct or breach of these T&C. On termination for default all unpaid fees become immediately due and AVM may pursue recovery.
  • These T&C are governed by the laws of the Democratic Republic of Timor‑Leste. Parties will attempt amicable resolution; unresolved disputes may be referred to mediation/arbitration or the competent Timor‑Leste courts. Complaints must be submitted in writing to AVM’s Training Manager. Contact: maria@avmtl.com or call 75267979
